A large sky scraper can be seen glowing next to the Principality stadium.\" class=\"sc-d1200759-0 dvfjxj\"\/>Blue Castle Capital<\/p>\n<p>Plans for a 180 metres (580 ft) development would tower above the neighbouring Principality Stadium<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Plans have been unveiled for Wales&#8217; tallest building, surpassing Swansea&#8217;s 107m (351ft) Meridian Tower, and towering above the neighbouring Principality Stadium. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">If approved, it is believed the 50-storey building in Cardiff city centre could make Wales home to the second the tallest building in the UK outside of London.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">The site, which is located between Wood Street and Rose Lane, already secured planning permission for a <a target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-wales-65848738\" class=\"sc-f9178328-0 bGFWdi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">35-storey mixed-use tower in 2023<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">But the new proposed skyscraper, standing at 580ft (180m), would hold more than 500 apartments as well as meeting rooms, an atrium, a bike hub and cafe.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1753987525_463_grey-placeholder.png\" class=\"sc-d1200759-0 dkIvM hide-when-no-script\" aria-label=\"image unavailable\"\/><img decoding=\"async\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/75ec9310-71f5-11f0-a178-03cc5fabe4bc.png.webp.webp\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Blue Castle Capital Visualisation of the planned pavillion restaurant next to the skyscraper in Central Square, Cardiff city centre.\" class=\"sc-d1200759-0 dvfjxj\"\/>Blue Castle Capital<\/p>\n<p>A pavillion restaurant and bar is planned for next door to the skyscraper <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Standing at 1,016ft (309.6m) high, the Shard in Southwark, London, is currently the tallest completed building in the UK. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Outside of London, Deansgate Square South Tower, Manchester, takes the lead, at 656ft (200m).<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">The developers for the Cardiff site, Reap 3 limited, a subsidary of Bluecastle Capital, said the plans seek to build upon the success of the wider Central Square area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">The architects said they were inspired by skyscrapers such as The Equitable Building in New York using a tripartite formation, which consists of three parts, with a clearly defined base, middle and top.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">The <a target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-wales-65848738\" class=\"sc-f9178328-0 bGFWdi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">previously approved development<\/a> planned commercial use for the ground floor, with a cafe or restaurant, and 364 residential apartments above.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">If approved, the new building would have two staircases and five lifts, with a pavilion restaurant and bar planned next door. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">For the top floor, developers are planning an enclosed glass roof terrace with views across &#8220;Cardiff and beyond&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1753987525_463_grey-placeholder.png\" class=\"sc-d1200759-0 dkIvM hide-when-no-script\" aria-label=\"image unavailable\"\/><img decoding=\"async\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/5f0fb0d0-71f7-11f0-88cf-791e5d4bcee3.png.webp.webp\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Blue Castle Capital Visualisation of the 50-storey planned proposal in Central Sqaure, Cardiff city centre.
