{"id":122393,"date":"2025-08-06T01:50:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-06T01:50:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/122393\/"},"modified":"2025-08-06T01:50:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-06T01:50:10","slug":"espn-announces-nfl-network-deal-reveals-details-on-future-of-redzone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/122393\/","title":{"rendered":"ESPN announces NFL Network deal, reveals details on future of RedZone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ESPN<\/strong> has officially <a href=\"https:\/\/espnpressroom.com\/us\/press-releases\/2025\/08\/espn-to-acquire-nfl-network-and-other-media-assets-from-the-nfl-in-exchange-for-a-10-equity-stake-in-espn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">announced<\/a> a deal to acquire <strong>NFL Media<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 including NFL Network and RedZone. The NFL would also receive a 10% stake in ESPN.<\/p>\n<p>In the announcement, ESPN provided more details on the future of RedZone, which came into question when the deal was <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/pro\/news\/espn-nfl-agree-to-billion-dollar-deal-to-acquire-redzone-other-top-media-properties\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">initially reported last week<\/a><\/strong>. ESPN would own the broad rights to the \u201cRedZone\u201d brand, meaning there could be more versions of it in the future. The NFL would own, operate and produce NFL RedZone and retain the rights to distribute it digitally.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scott Hanson<\/strong> will also be back as host of NFL RedZone after recently agreeing to a new deal with the NFL. He confirmed after the news broke that he\u2019s not going anywhere.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s official. (&amp; for those wondering: yes, I will still be hosting RedZone.),\u201d Hanson wrote on X. \u201cFired up for a great season! Optimistic about this new partnership! (&amp; I get to call @AdamSchefter \u201ccolleague\u201d for the 2nd time in my career\u2026 nice bonus!)\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There are worries about the agreement, though. It still has to receive government approval. In fact, Front Office Sports\u2019 <strong>Michael McCarthy<\/strong> reported \u201c<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/pro\/news\/growing-concern-president-donald-trump-could-try-delay-block-nfl-espn-deal-redzone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">growing concern<\/a><\/strong>\u201d President\u00a0<strong>Donald Trump<\/strong>\u00a0could try to delay or block it, given the magnitude of the deal.<\/p>\n<p>More on the ESPN-NFL deal<\/p>\n<p>As part of the landmark deal, ESPN would now own and operate NFL Network and fully integrate into its direct-to-consumer app, which is due to launch this fall. Additionally, NFL.com fantasy football is set to merge with ESPN Fantasy. In addition to NFL RedZone, the NFL will also own and operate <strong>NFL Films<\/strong>, <strong>NFL+<\/strong> and NFL.com, among other properties.<\/p>\n<p>ESPN will also license three NFL games per season on NFL Network as part of the deal. ESPN will also adjust its overall NFL schedule, shifting four games to NFL Network, which will still air seven games each year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince its launch in 2003, NFL Network has provided millions of fans unprecedented access to the sport they love,\u201d said NFL commissioner <strong>Roger Goodell<\/strong> in a statement. \u201cWhether it was debuting Thursday Night Football, televising the Combine, or telling incredible football stories through original shows and breaking news, NFL Network has delivered. The Network\u2019s sale to ESPN will build on this remarkable legacy, providing more NFL football for more fans in new and innovative ways.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ESPN is preparing to launch its direct-to-consumer service, which will cost $29.99 per month\u00a0and formally debut in the next few weeks. NFL RedZone\u00a0will likely be a key selling point if the deal goes through. Additionally, ESPN also brought\u00a0<strong>Rich Eisen<\/strong>\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/pro\/news\/report-rich-eisen-to-return-to-espn-in-fall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">back to its airwaves<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0starting Sept. 2, and his eponymous show will air on ESPN\u2019s DTC service.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"ESPN has officially announced a deal to acquire NFL Media\u00a0\u2013 including NFL Network and RedZone.
