The Vancouver Police Department says a suspect has been charged following a string of unprovoked stranger assaults in downtown over the weekend.<\/p>\n
In a news release, police said the first incident occurred at around 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 3, when a 40-year-old man was walking near Granville and West Pender Street, when a stranger approached him and allegedly pushed him several times, and then walked away.<\/p>\n
A few moments later, the suspect allegedly walked up to a couple on Granville Street and violently threw one of them to the ground.<\/p>\n

The victim of the second attack has been identified as a 30-year-old woman visiting from Germany. She was sent to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.<\/p>\n
The suspect fled from the scene on foot, and VPD says witnesses chased him into a nearby lane and held him until police arrived and arrested him.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s been identified as 29-year-old Daniel James Johnny and has been charged with assault by choking and two counts of assault. Johnny remains in custody.<\/p>\n
