{"id":122779,"date":"2025-08-06T05:14:20","date_gmt":"2025-08-06T05:14:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/122779\/"},"modified":"2025-08-06T05:14:20","modified_gmt":"2025-08-06T05:14:20","slug":"milford-entities-of-nyc-allegedly-scammed-out-of-19m-thanks-to-single-phishing-email","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/122779\/","title":{"rendered":"Milford Entities of NYC allegedly scammed out of $19M \u2014 thanks to single phishing email"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A well-known city firm that owns and manages luxury properties was allegedly scammed out of nearly $19 million thanks to a single phishing email, The Post has learned.<\/p>\n<p>Milford Entities\/Management Company \u2014 whose tony properties include Liberty View and Liberty Luxe in Battery Park City \u2014 was the victim of thieving cybercriminals in early July, sources and emails show.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cspoofing\u2019\u2019 email led to the gargantuan sum getting accidentally transferred to a <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/tag\/td-bank\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TD Bank<\/a> account posing as the Battery Park City Authority,\u00a0according to sources with knowledge of the situation and the internal correspondence.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.96168582;display:block\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"36745974\" width=\"1024\" height=\"522\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/streetview-200-109241937.jpg\" alt=\"Liberty Luxe in Battery City Park \" class=\"wp-image-36745974\"  \/>Milford Entities\/Management Company  \u2014 the owner of Liberty Luxe in Battery City Park \u2014 lost nearly $19 million in a phishing scam. Google Maps<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Homeland Security is now leading a multiagency task force investigating the whopping fraud,\u00a0according to sources and emails obtained by The Post.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast month, Milford Management was the victim of a fraud involving the theft of funds through the creation of a fraudulent bank account in the name of the Battery Park City Authority,\u201d the Manhattan-based company said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe theft involved buildings directly owned by Milford Management-related entities, as well as others the company manages,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs this fraud is the subject of an ongoing law enforcement investigation, we will have no further comment on the matter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The BPCA \u2014 a state entity that maintains and develops the Hudson River-side Manhattan neighborhood \u2014 confirmed it did not receive the company\u2019s quarterly payment due in early July.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.56097561;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"36745973\" width=\"921\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/streetview-99-battery-place-liberty-109241920.jpg\" alt=\"Street view of Liberty View at 99 Battery Place.\" class=\"wp-image-36745973\"  \/>The luxury real estate firm transferred money to an account posing as the Battery Park City Authority.
