New York City-based influencer Chase Filandro has died by suicide<\/a> at age 20, according to the young man\u2019s family.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was Chase\u2019s own decision to enter Heaven,\u201d his family confirmed in a statement to TMZ. \u201cOur family is heartbroken and devastated by the sudden and unexpected loss of our beloved Chase.\u201d<\/p>\n

Filandro\u2019s death was first announced<\/a> on Sunday in an Instagram post from his sister, Franki Ford.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy brother, Chase Filandro, was a shining light who had an incredible zest for life,\u201d Ford captioned a photo of Filandro beaming below Mount Rushmore. \u201cChase was an avid traveler and was moved by the beauty of National Parks. He always welcomed strangers with a smile and made friends along the trails he traveled on.\u201d<\/p>\n

The internet personality, whose Instagram boasted over 35,000 followers at the time of his death, died on July 31<\/a>, according to People.<\/p>\n

A GoFundMe<\/a> has been set up \u201cto honor his life and remember his legacy forever\u201d with a memorial near one of Filandro\u2019s favorite parks, Ford said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce finalized, we\u2019ll share the details so you can visit and enjoy what Chase loved doing most, knowing he is right alongside you,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The GoFundMe did not publicly reveal how much money had been raised in Filandro\u2019s memory, though Ford wrote that the goal was reached \u201cin only 13 hours.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cChase clearly had such an impact on many,\u201d she wrote in the fundraiser\u2019s update.<\/p>\n

Filandro\u2019s family now intends to use any overflow funds to \u201csupport the building of an additional memorial in New York that is closer to home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Filandro, who acted in a 2022 short and had a credit in an upcoming independent film<\/a>, was remembered as \u201ctruly the brightest light\u201d by Take 2 Actors Studio.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis presence was a gift, and his absence leaves a hole in our hearts that can never be filled,\u201d wrote the Long Island acting school<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Filandro also sang for a Long Island-based indie rock band, Just Add Water<\/a>.<\/p>\n
