{"id":122836,"date":"2025-08-06T05:45:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-06T05:45:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/122836\/"},"modified":"2025-08-06T05:45:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-06T05:45:09","slug":"wildfire-rages-in-southwestern-france-closing-highway-dw-08-06-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/122836\/","title":{"rendered":"Wildfire rages in southwestern France, closing highway \u2013 DW \u2013 08\/06\/2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A <a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/wildfires\/t-58764432\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">wildfire<\/a> in the Corbieres hills in southwestern\u00a0France, inland from the Mediterranean coast, has already closed a major highway and left nine people injured, one critically, local officials said.<\/p>\n<p>The fire started in the town of Ribaute and has since spread over 11,000 hectares, the affected Aude department said on social media in an update early on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Seven firefighters and two other people have been injured, &#8220;including one person in critical condition with severe burns,&#8221; Aude department said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another fire had since broken out some 20 kilometers (12 miles) northwest of the original blaze.<\/p>\n<p>Camping grounds and one village were partially evacuated in the department, and several local roads were closed.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities shut parts of the A9 motorway linking <a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/france\/t-19065412\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">France<\/a> to <a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/spain\/t-18996264\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Spain<\/a> on Tuesday.
