Among crimes recorded by the\u00a0San Diego Police Department<\/a>, many non-violent issues fall into the category of property crimes. Among those, the department consistently reports several hundred vehicle thefts each month. The citywide trend looks like this:<\/p>\n

The number of reported vehicle thefts locally appears to hit a low around the beginning of each year. So, what has been happening so far this year?<\/p>\n
