Actor Bill Hader revealed the real reason that he did not attend the star-studded prime time special celebrating the 50th anniversary of \u201cSaturday Night Live.\u201d Hint: It wasn\u2019t scheduling conflicts as previously stated by his representative<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During an appearance Monday on \u201cLate Night With Seth Meyers,\u201d Hader said that comedian Andy Samberg called with an idea for a digital short<\/a> about the anxiety everyone on \u201cSNL\u201d goes through. The star behind characters like Stefon<\/a> said he told Samberg that he wasn\u2019t sure he wanted to do that because he\u2019s anxious.<\/p>\n

Instead, Bowen Yang starred in the short film that aired during the special.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd he was great,\u201d Hader said.<\/p>\n

Hader and Meyers both joked that another reason he did not make an appearance during the \u201cSNL\u201d special was because he had \u201canxiety-caused shingles.\u201d The host quipped that if he would have attended the show he would have had \u201cdouble shingles.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hader was an \u201cSNL\u201d cast member for eight seasons between 2005 to 2013. Since leaving the show, he has been open about his mental health during his time at Studio 8H.<\/p>\n

Meyers said that his co-star on \u201cSNL\u201d had a \u201crelentless list of maladies.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cThe top-10 weirdest things that happened to any cast member I ever worked with were all Bill Hader,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Hader went on to talk about how he lost his vision because of his anxiety in his first season on the show. It happened while he was waiting backstage with co-star Jason Sudeikis, stuntman Johnny Knoxville and singer Neil Young for their sketch \u201cAppalachian Emergency Room<\/a>.\u201d <\/p>\n

The sketch went on, with Sudeikis taking Hader\u2019s lines and moving Hader to his mark.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Sudeikis] was very sweet,\u201d Hader told Meyers.<\/p>\n
