The next outpost of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.libertykitchenoysterette.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Liberty Kitchen &amp; Oysterette<\/strong><\/a> will open in the area this fall.<\/p>\n<p>Located in the former <a href=\"https:\/\/houston.culturemap.com\/news\/restaurants-bars\/gratify-bistro-closed-rice-village\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Gratify<\/a> space at 5212 Morningside, Culinary Khancepts \u2014 the local hospitality group behind Liberty Kitchen, State Fare, Star Cinema Grill, CultureMap Tastemaker Awards Best New Restaurant winner <a href=\"https:\/\/houston.culturemap.com\/news\/society\/tasting-table-leos-riveroaks-recap\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Leo\u2019s River Oaks<\/a>, and others \u2014 plans to transform the space by adding 550 square feet of indoor dining. When complete, the restaurant will seat 112 people inside, 18 at the bar, and 50 on an outdoor patio. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve always loved the energy of Rice Village,\u201d CEO Omar Khan said in a statement. \u201cIt\u2019s a perfect blend of families, college students, and professionals \u2014 and we\u2019re excited to bring Liberty Kitchen\u2019s warm, coastal ambiance to this new corner of town. On a personal note, my wife grew up in the area and her father worked at Rice University, so as a family, Rice Village holds a very special place in our hearts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Liberty Kitchen is a seafood-driven, Gulf Coast-inspired restaurant with locations in River Oaks and Memorial. It\u2019s known for dishes such as gumbo, oysters (raw or grilled), redfish on the half shell, and more. Like its siblings, the restaurant will be open for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch with a happy hour available Tuesday through Friday from 3-6 pm.<\/p>\n<p>Culinary Khancepts <a href=\"https:\/\/houston.culturemap.com\/news\/restaurants-bars\/08-05-20-liberty-kitchen-treehouse-memorial-oysterette-river-oaks-new-owner-culinary-khancepts-feed-tx\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">acquired the restaurant<\/a> from F.E.E.D. TX in 2020. Rice Village will be the first location of Liberty Kitchen opened by Culinary Khancepts since it assumed ownership. <\/p>\n<p>The area has seen some changes in 2025. East Coast-inspired restaurant <a href=\"https:\/\/houston.culturemap.com\/news\/restaurants-bars\/hudson-house-rice-village-opening\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Hudson House<\/a> opened its second Houston location in Rice Village in May, and Ohio-based ice cream shop Jeni\u2019s followed in June. Rice Village staples Helen Greek Food &amp; Wine and Thai Village <a href=\"https:\/\/houston.diningout.com\/two-longstanding-rice-village-restaurants-top-the-list-of-houstons-latest-closings\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">both closed<\/a> in May. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A Houston seafood restaurant has claimed a prime space in Rice Village for its third location.
