Now we have to come back home and get paid nothing to play in a harder league, in worse conditions, against the best competition in the world?\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_15-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> When Taurasi announced her retirement earlier this year after 20 seasons with the Phoenix Mercury, <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tag\/lebron-james\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">LeBron James<\/a> was among those who offered a tribute to her talent.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_19-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cJust seeing her transcend the game, watching little girls want to play like her, her style, her flair, her bravado, you know, her swagger, it&#8217;s been an unbelievable treat,\u201d the Los Angeles Lakers star, 40, told Time in February. \u201cShe&#8217;s one of the all-time greatest, and she will leave her mark on the game of basketball the moment she ties those shoes up and throws them over the pole line.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_21-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Salaries in the W have been a long-disputed topic, most recently at the All-Star Game in Indianapolis.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_23-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> On Saturday, July 19, players took the court for warm-ups in shirts that read &#8220;Pay Us What You Owe Us.&#8221; The athletes wore the shirts amid players&#8217; union negotiations with the league to reach a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA).\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_27-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> The average WNBA base salary is around $102,000, while the NBA average is about $13 million, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spotrac.com\/wnba\/contracts\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Spotrac<\/a>&#8216;s data analyzed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/wnba\/what-is-the-average-salary-of-a-wnba-player-in-2025\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sports Illustrated<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/contracts\/players.html\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Basketball Reference<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_29-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> &#8220;That\u2019s one of the things we&#8217;re in the room fighting for,&#8221;
