{"id":125101,"date":"2025-08-07T01:47:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-07T01:47:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/125101\/"},"modified":"2025-08-07T01:47:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-07T01:47:13","slug":"d-backs-kevin-ginkel-moved-to-60-day-il-to-end-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/125101\/","title":{"rendered":"D-backs&#8217; Kevin Ginkel moved to 60-day IL to end season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kevin Ginkel\u2019s season is over after the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday moved him from the 15-day injured list to 60-day IL with a sprained right shoulder.<\/p>\n<p>The D-backs also optioned left-hander Kyle Nelson and selected the contract of 35-year-old Casey Kelly, a right-hander who made his major-league debut in 2012 for the San Diego Padres but from 2019-24 played in the KBO League.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly returned to the United States in 2024 and made two appearances for the Cincinnati Reds last season before signing with Arizona on a minor-league deal.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s started 14 games and made 18 appearances <a href=\"https:\/\/www.milb.com\/player\/casey-kelly-543391\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">in Triple-A Reno<\/a>, where he posted a 5.82 ERA and 1.71 WHIP.<\/p>\n<p>The moves give the Diamondbacks some length Wednesday against the Padres after Nelson failed to record an out and allowed a run with three walks in just 15 pitches (three strikes) on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>That led off a game in which the Arizona bullpen followed starter Ryne Nelson\u2019s 5.2 innings of two-run ball with six pitchers throwing 117 pitches and allowing seven earned runs and eight total in a <a href=\"https:\/\/arizonasports.com\/mlb\/arizona-diamondbacks\/gurriel-padres\/3592164\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">10-5 loss<\/a> that ended after 11 innings.<\/p>\n<p>Kevin Ginkel\u2019s up and down season ends for the D-backs<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/arizonasports.com\/mlb\/arizona-diamondbacks\/kevin-ginkel-il-2\/3592022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Ginkel initially went on the 15-day injured list<\/a> with a sprained right shoulder on Monday, a move that was retroactive to Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Now, his season ends with a 7.36 ERA and 1.64 WHIP in just 29 appearances, thanks to injury and a Triple-A option due to his struggles.<\/p>\n<p>The down season came at an unfortunate time. Ginkel would have been in a position to give the team stability after losing backend relievers A.J.
