Cynthia Gonzalez, the vice mayor of Cudahy, a suburb of southeast Los Angeles County, is coming under fire for a video she posted on social media in which she appeared to be calling on street gangs to organize in the face of immigration sweeps. <\/p>\n

\u201cI want to know where all the cholos are at in Los Angeles,\u201d Gonzalez says in the video which has since been taken down<\/a>. \u201cYou guys are always tagging everything up, claiming hood, and now that your hood\u2019s being invaded by the biggest gang there is, there ain\u2019t a peep out of you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s everyone else who\u2019s not about the gang life that\u2019s out there protesting and speaking up,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019re out there fighting our turf, protecting our turf, protecting our people and, like, where you at?\u201d <\/p>\n

The video seems to suggest she is calling on gang members to \u201chelp out and organize\u201d and urging street gang leaders to \u201cget your members in order.\u201d Gonzalez makes reference to \u201c18th Street,\u201d<\/a> the name of one of the largest street gangs in Los Angeles. <\/p>\n

The video may have caught the attention of federal authorities. According to Fox News<\/a>, which first reported on the video, Gonzalez was \u201callegedly being investigated\u201d over whether she had called on street gangs to use violence against federal immigration agents.<\/p>\n

Laura Eimiller, spokeswoman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, would neither confirm nor deny that the vice mayor was under investigation, per the agency\u2019s policy.<\/p>\n

\u201cGenerally speaking, of course, the FBI condemns any calls for violence or targeting of law enforcement with violence,\u201d Eimiller said. <\/p>\n

Gonzalez did no immediately respond to a request for comment. <\/p>\n

But in a written statement, the city of Cudahy said it was aware of the comments made by Gonzalez on social media. <\/p>\n
