PHOENIX \u2014 United Airlines flights were grounded at Phoenix Sky Harbor and other airports around the country on Wednesday evening due to a technology issue, officials said.<\/p>\n

Real-time status information<\/a> for Sky Harbor stated that, due to a carrier request, departure flights to airports around the country would be not be allowed to take off until after 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

The airports included Denver International Airport, Newark International Airport, Houston\/George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Chicago O\u2019Hare International Airport and San Francisco International Airport \u2014\u00a0 all of which are United Airlines hubs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cDue to a technology issue, we are holding United mainline flights at their departure airport,\u201d United Media Relation said in a statement to KTAR News 92.3 FM.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSafety is our top priority, and we\u2019ll work with our customers to get them to their destinations.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is unknown when the issue will be fixed.<\/p>\n

United Airlines advised customers to expect additional flight delays as it works to resolve the issue.<\/p>\n
