A new report suggests that Disney has likely already found the director for The Fantastic Four 2<\/strong><\/a>, and has high hopes for the sequel.<\/p>\n

Who is potentially directing The Fantastic Four 2? <\/p>\n

According to Jeff Sneider of The InSneider<\/a>, Matt Shakman \u2014 the director of the first film and the MCU miniseries WandaVision \u2014 is \u201clikely\u201d to return to direct a sequel. As for the film\u2019s box office, Sneider mentions that, although the film hasn\u2019t performed incredibly, Marvel execs believe the sequel will perform better after The Fantastic Four are shown off more in the next two Avengers movies, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.<\/p>\n

Sneider\u2019s report comes after Disney CEO Bob Iger also praised The Fantastic Four: First Steps, saying the movie<\/a> \u201csuccessfully launched\u201d an important franchise into the MCU, even if it didn\u2019t make the same amount of money as a project like Avengers might.<\/p>\n

In its second weekend, The Fantastic Four: First Steps took a 66% drop, a surprisingly high mark for a film that is praised by both critics and audiences. Following its latest drop, it\u2019s likely First Steps will come in under Superman, the DCU film that launched a week prior. <\/p>\n

\u201cSet against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world,\u00a0Marvel Studios<\/a>\u2019 The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces\u00a0Marvel<\/a>\u2019s First Family\u2014Reed Richards\/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm\/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm\/Human Torch and Ben Grimm\/The Thing as they face their most daunting challenge yet,\u201d the official synopsis for the movie reads.<\/p>\n

Kevin Feige serves as a producer on the project, while executive producers include Louis D\u2019Esposito, Grant Curtis, and Tim Lewis. Mitch Bell is a co-producer, while the music comes from Michael Giacchino.<\/p>\n

The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be released in United States theaters on July 25, 2025. It has been confirmed that Pascal, Kirby, Quinn, and Moss-Bachrach will all return for\u00a0Avengers: Doomsday<\/a>, which arrives in December 2026.<\/p>\n
