The studio behind \u201cThe Chosen\u201d is teaming up exclusively with Slingshot Productions to distribute the animated feature film \u201cDavid\u201d to global audiences. <\/p>\n

5&2 Studios will expand its territory beyond its biblical drama, \u201cThe Chosen,\u201d by heading global distribution, licensing agreements and marketing efforts for the animated feature\u2019s release. The studio is still seeking a partner for theatrical distribution. <\/p>\n

Based on the Old Testament story of David and Goliath, \u201cDavid\u201d was brought to life by Sunrise Animation Studios, with help from Grammy-nominated recording artist Phil Wickham as the titular character. Phil Cunningham and Brent Bawes co-directed the project. <\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t expect to love this movie as much as I did, and when my wife read the script and had no notes, I knew we were onto something,\u201d Dallas Jenkins, chairman and chief creative officer of 5&2 Studios, said in a statement. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve found a great biblical storyteller in Phil (Cunningham), and I\u2019m confident this is the first of multiple projects we\u2019ll do together.\u201d<\/p>\n

The animated feature arrives as the biblical and faith-based genre enjoys increasing success among audiences \u2014 manifesting plenty of room for projects like \u201cDavid.\u201d <\/p>\n

Biblical dramas \u201cThe Chosen\u201d and \u201cThe House of David\u201d both spent several consecutive weeks on Amazon Prime Video\u2019s top 10 most watched list in the United States this year.<\/p>\n

And Angel Studio\u2019s animated biblical feature, \u201cKing of Kings,\u201d broke the record for highest-grossing debut for an animated biblical film, earning more than $19 million during its opening weekend. <\/p>\n

Faith-based studios, including 5&2 Studios, Angel Studios and The Wonder Project, have been releasing faith-based content at a growing rate, appealing to massive audiences.<\/p>\n

Following The Wonder Project\u2019s \u201cHouse of David,\u201d which premiered on Prime Video in February, \u201cDavid\u201d will be the second major project depicting the story of King David of The Old Testament this year. <\/p>\n

\u201cDavid\u2019s faith in God\u2019s love propelled him into a life of adventure and helped him conquer fear. Although far from perfect, he lived wholeheartedly and we hope that audiences will be inspired as they watch. Our passion in the telling of this story was to aim at building an Arc de Triomphe of films,\u201d Cunningham, co-director of \u201cDavid,\u201d said in a statement. <\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cIf one looks over Paris there are many flats, offices and factories but our goal was to create a film that stood the test of time and had scale and attention to detail in equal parts \u2014 an Arc de Triomphe. <\/p>\n

When does \u2018David\u2019 come out?<\/p>\n
