This includes the trunnion bearings \u2014 large pivot points that act like the bridge\u2019s \u201cshoulder joints,\u201d allowing it to open and close for vessel traffic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cThese parts wear down over time,\u201d FDOT said in a statement, \u201cand the data collected this week will help engineers plan a major trunnion replacement scheduled for early 2028.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The Acosta Bridge is the official detour, and drivers should expect about a two-minute delay depending on traffic flow. Vessels traveling beneath the Main Street Bridge will not be impacted by the closure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The timing also coincides with Duval County schools resuming for the new academic year, so drivers are encouraged to allow for extra travel time during the morning and afternoon commute.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">To stay updated on lane closures and traffic impacts, drivers can follow FDOT District 2 on X (@MyFDOT_NEFL) or Facebook (@MyFDOTNEFL).
