1.\u00a0Trump and Democrats turn rivals Texas and California into proxies for national power struggle<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

The two most populous U.S. states \u2014 California and Texas \u2014 are grappling for political advantage ahead of the 2026 elections, setting up a national proxy war as Democrats and Republicans vie for control of Congress in the latter half of Donald Trump’s second presidency.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Texans are seeing their SNAP benefits stolen<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

There have been over 15,000 claims of stolen SNAP benefits in Texas alone.\u00a0It\u2019s an issue happening across the country, with over 690,000 fraudulent transactions this year, up 55% from the last quarter according to the USDA.<\/p>\n

This past December, the federal government stopped replacing stolen benefits.\u00a0<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Texas AG Ken Paxton pursues court order against House Democrats<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Tuesday that he\u2019s pursuing a court order against Texas House Democrats who left the state over the weekend to prevent the redistricting vote, with the goal of having their seats declared vacant.<\/p>\n

House Speaker Dustin Burrows set a Friday deadline for lawmakers to return to the Texas House, and if they haven\u2019t returned by that date, Paxton will seek legal action against them.<\/p>\n
