LONDON (AP) \u2014 And now for something completely different: Britain\u2019s Royal Mail has issued stamps celebrating the absurdist comedy of Monty Python<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 10-stamp series announced on Thursday celebrates some of the troupe\u2019s most iconic characters and catchphrases, from \u201cNudge, nudge\u201d to \u201cThe Lumberjack Song.\u201d<\/p>\n

Six stamps depict scenes from the sketch-comedy TV series \u201cMonty Python\u2019s Flying Circus,\u201d including \u201cThe Spanish Inquisition,\u201d \u201dThe Ministry of Silly Walks,\u201d \u201cDead Parrot\u201d and \u201cThe Nude Organist.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another four mark the 50th anniversary of the cult classic 1975 film \u201cMonty Python and the Holy Grail,\u201d including one showing the limb-losing Black Knight insisting, \u201c\u2019Tis but a scratch.\u201d<\/p>\n

The stamps can be pre-ordered from Thursday and go on sale Aug. 14.<\/p>\n

Made up of Michael Palin, John Cleese, Eric Idle<\/a>, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones and Graham Chapman, Monty Python brought a unique blend of satire, surrealism and silliness to British TV screens in a series that ran from 1969 to 1974. The troupe also made several feature films, including \u201cAnd Now for Something Completely Different,\u201d \u201cMonty Python\u2019s Life of Brian\u201d and \u201cMonty Python\u2019s The Meaning of Life.\u201d<\/p>\n

David Gold, Royal Mail\u2019s director of external affairs, said the collection \u201chonors a body of work that has shaped the comedic landscape for nearly six decades.\u201d<\/p>\n

Palin said he was \u201cvery glad to share a stamp with the nude organist!\u201d<\/p>\n

The group largely disbanded in the 1980s, and Chapman died of cancer in 1989. The five surviving Pythons reunited in 2014<\/a> for a string of live stage shows.<\/p>\n
