Nothing,\u201d Morgan said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan, on the other hand, has heard plenty.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Deegan and Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia have gone back and forth over the last week about the planned visit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GovGoneWild\/status\/1952463986772861242\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GovGoneWild\/status\/1952463986772861242\">Ingoglia posted a letter to social media<\/a>, claiming that Jacksonville was among some local governments \u201ctrying to place \u2018conditions\u2019 and restrictions\u201d on DOGE auditors.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It has come to my attention that some local governments are trying to place \u201cconditions\u201d and restrictions on our investigators doing <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DOGEFla?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@DOGEFla<\/a> audits. <\/p>\n<p>Let me be clear: All of the information we are requesting is public information. She said her office simply asked state auditors to fill out a one-page form with the names of people needing access to city systems. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Deegan pointed out that the form is a standard security step to help protect Jacksonville\u2019s financial network.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">In his letter, Ingoglia insisted the documents would limit the authority of the audit team.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cThese types of documents slow and impede the important work of the auditors and are nothing but roadblocks to the transparency that Floridians deserve,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">He added that all of the information he is requesting is public information and that he won\u2019t stand for \u201cbureaucratic red tape when looking for waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer dollars.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">In a statement responding to Ingoglia\u2019s social media post, the mayor\u2019s office said that the form it submitted to Florida DOGE auditors simply asks for information on the quantity and names of people who will require access to the city\u2019s financial information during their visit on Thursday and Friday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Deegan\u2019s statement also noted that her office \u201crespects Florida DOGE\u2019s desire to gain access,\u201d but \u201casks that they follow our well-established procedures, which are protected under the very state statute that [Ingoglia] cited.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The full statement can be read below:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__StackBase-sc-1fnzlkn-7 bqJyUE iQviKm block-quote\">\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 ewwUYq\">We go to great lengths to protect the integrity and safety of our network. As such, we require every external auditor to complete a standard one-page form to request access to our sensitive and sophisticated financial systems. We respect Florida DOGE\u2019s desire to gain access. All we ask is that they follow our well-established procedures, which are protected under the very state statute that they cited. Security should never be politicized.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 ewwUYq\">The City of Jacksonville already conducts self-imposed audits each year on top of what Florida DOGE is mandating, and this is part of the standard process for external auditors to gain access.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/\/laws.flrules.org\/node\/9879__;!!JzAkRiGGxM5L!t-YPpq3rb1JhiHwkca13lRWOPGR-9BYLmMpoDyQMFJchoG3ZeD-udxEJZBw78YiX8tPxG24lqtTzXnMx-lcRdz0Hrw$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/\/laws.flrules.org\/node\/9879__;!!JzAkRiGGxM5L!t-YPpq3rb1JhiHwkca13lRWOPGR-9BYLmMpoDyQMFJchoG3ZeD-udxEJZBw78YiX8tPxG24lqtTzXnMx-lcRdz0Hrw$\">Chapter 2025(199), Section 124<\/a>\u00a0of Florida law states that Office of Policy and Budget personnel can be granted access to the City\u2019s \u201cdata systems and related data,\u00a0<b>subject to appropriate security considerations.<\/b>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 ewwUYq\">Last week, Florida DOGE notified the City of Jacksonville about the site visit, and the Mayor\u2019s Office\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/\/www.jacksonville.gov\/welcome\/news\/statement-from-the-mayor**Bs-office-on-the-florida-d__;4oCZ!!JzAkRiGGxM5L!t-YPpq3rb1JhiHwkca13lRWOPGR-9BYLmMpoDyQMFJchoG3ZeD-udxEJZBw78YiX8tPxG24lqtTzXnMx-lcHOGKe3w$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/\/www.jacksonville.gov\/welcome\/news\/statement-from-the-mayor**Bs-office-on-the-florida-d__;4oCZ!!JzAkRiGGxM5L!t-YPpq3rb1JhiHwkca13lRWOPGR-9BYLmMpoDyQMFJchoG3ZeD-udxEJZBw78YiX8tPxG24lqtTzXnMx-lcHOGKe3w$\">issued this statement<\/a>\u00a0about the city\u2019s financial success. Since then, hundreds of staff hours have been spent on short notice in the middle of our annual budget review to prepare.<\/p>\n<p>Office of Mayor Donna Deegan<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">When the DOGE announcement was first made last week, Deegan released a statement saying the city has been cooperating with Florida DOGE and will continue to do so. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__StackBase-sc-1fnzlkn-7 bqJyUE iQviKm block-quote\">\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 ewwUYq\">The City of Jacksonville has been cooperating with Florida DOGE since their first request in March and will continue to do so.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 ewwUYq\">They will find that our city finances have been managed responsibly and prudently, which is how we\u2019ve held the number of non-public safety employees flat despite having one of the fastest growing populations in the country and the lowest millage rate by far of any major Florida city. It\u2019s also why the three major ratings agencies have issued a top tier AA+ or AA rating for the second year in a row.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 ewwUYq\">The work to create a more efficient government has been underway since Mayor Deegan\u2019s first day in office. The time it takes for businesses to receive a permit has been cut in half, and more than 284,000 staff hours have been saved through our 904LEAN initiative that drives process improvements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 ewwUYq\">We welcome any financial evaluation not driven by partisanship or political gamesmanship.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Donna Deegan&#8217;s Office<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The announcement was applauded by city councilmember Rory Diamond, who said the creation of \u201cDuval DOGE\u201d was just scratching the surface regarding cuts that could be made to the city\u2019s spending. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cThis is real cuts, like the governor has been honest about, cutting funding for DEI, cutting funding for illegal aliens, going after totally unnecessary programs. That\u2019s what we need to do. And if it takes someone coming from outside to help us do it. Let\u2019s go,\u201d Diamond said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Florida DOGE is making its way across Florida.
