{"id":126343,"date":"2025-08-07T12:41:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-07T12:41:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/126343\/"},"modified":"2025-08-07T12:41:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-07T12:41:09","slug":"jorge-quintana-2025-draftees-lead-storm-to-win-san-diego-union-tribune","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/126343\/","title":{"rendered":"Jorge Quintana, 2025 draftees lead Storm to win \u2013 San Diego Union-Tribune"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some new faces lead low Single-A Lake Elsinore to a win on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dylan Grego<\/strong> drove in the go-ahead run in the ninth inning, <strong>Ryan Wideman<\/strong> collected three hits and <strong>Jorge Quintana<\/strong> reached base twice in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.milb.com\/gameday\/storm-vs-quakes\/2025\/08\/06\/788460\/final\/summary\/scoringPlays\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Storm\u2019s 4-2 win<\/a> at Rancho Cucamonga.<\/p>\n<p>All three were playing in their first game in the organization.<\/p>\n<p>Quintana is the 18-year-old switch-hitting shortstop the Padres <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiegouniontribune.com\/2025\/07\/31\/whats-left-in-the-padres-system-after-a-whirlwind-trade-deadline\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">received from the Brewers<\/a> in the <strong>Nestor Cortes-Brandon Lockridge<\/strong> swap.<\/p>\n<p>Wideman, an outfielder, was drafted in the third round last month out of Western Kentucky. He drove in two runs, including an insurance run in the ninth inning.<\/p>\n<p>Grego, a second baseman, was drafted in the 13th round out of Ball State.<\/p>\n<p>Left-hander<strong> Kash Mayfield<\/strong> (3.25 ERA) struck out five and allowed two runs on three hits and three walks in four innings in the start.<\/p>\n<p>Lake Elsinore is 48-56.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday\u2019s scoreboard<\/p>\n<p><strong>TRIPLE-A EL PASO (60-49)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.milb.com\/gameday\/comets-vs-chihuahuas\/2025\/08\/06\/780127\/final\/box\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chihuahuas 7, Oklahoma City 6:<\/a> RHP <strong>Logan Gillaspie<\/strong> (7.98 ERA) allowed three runs in five innings in the start. He struck out five. RHP<strong> Ron Marinaccio<\/strong> (6-0, 4.93 ERA) struck out two in a scoreless ninth for the win. 2B<strong> Nate Mondou<\/strong> (.807 OPS) went 4-for-5 with a double and a run scored.
