{"id":1265,"date":"2025-06-21T03:31:08","date_gmt":"2025-06-21T03:31:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1265\/"},"modified":"2025-06-21T03:31:08","modified_gmt":"2025-06-21T03:31:08","slug":"amy-poehler-on-controversial-snl-sketches-i-appropriated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1265\/","title":{"rendered":"Amy Poehler on Controversial \u2018SNL\u2019 Sketches: \u2018I Appropriated\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/amy-poehler\/\" id=\"auto-tag_amy-poehler_1\" data-tag=\"amy-poehler\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amy Poehler<\/a> admits that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/saturday-night-live\/\" id=\"auto-tag_saturday-night-live_1\" data-tag=\"saturday-night-live\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Saturday Night Live<\/a> has had quite a few controversial sketches during its tenure.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tDuring a conversation with <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/will-forte-coyote-vs-acme-rescue-1236200581\/\">Will Forte<\/a> on her Good Hang podcast, the two alumni reflected on their careers as comedians and how they\u2019ve learned that \u201ceverything has an expiration date.\u201d In particular, Poehler pointed out the \u201c<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/nbcsnl\/status\/1891340993280057688?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1891340993280057688%7Ctwgr%5E32b6e685bba4ff818b94547d4119954761124253%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fparade.com%2Ftv%2Fsnl-50th-anniversary-in-memoriam-problematic-sketches\">In Memoriam<\/a>\u201d segment led by Tom Hanks, which highlighted \u201cSNL characters and sketches that have aged horribly.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cThat\u2019s the part about getting older and being in comedy is you have to figure out, it\u2019s like, everything has an expiration date,\u201d she said. \u201cEven on the 50th [<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/snl-50th-anniversary-special-steve-martin-opening-monologue-1236138497\/\">SNL anniversary episode<\/a>] when they had that segment which was like, \u2018Here\u2019s all the ways we got things wrong,\u2019 and they showed way inappropriate casting for people.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe segment Poehler was referencing showed clips from controversial sketches of SNL\u2018s past. An assortment of past clips in different categories was shown, including ethnic stereotypes, sexual harassment, animal cruelty, body shaming, slut shaming, \u201cGay panic,\u201d ableism, sexism, child molestation, \u201cquestionable makeup,\u201d problematic guests and racial slurs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cWe all played people that we should not have played,\u201d Poehler added, \u201cI misappropriated, I appropriated, I didn\u2019t know, I did know, like it\u2019s very real.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe Parks and Recreation star noted that in hindsight, \u201cthe best thing you can do is make repair, learn from your mistakes [and] do better.
