{"id":126663,"date":"2025-08-07T15:30:29","date_gmt":"2025-08-07T15:30:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/126663\/"},"modified":"2025-08-07T15:30:29","modified_gmt":"2025-08-07T15:30:29","slug":"2025-new-york-film-festival-currents-lineup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/126663\/","title":{"rendered":"2025 New York Film Festival Currents Lineup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/new-york-film-festival\/\" id=\"auto-tag_new-york-film-festival_1\" data-tag=\"new-york-film-festival\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Film Festival<\/a> has announced the selections for its Currents lineup.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/international\/\" id=\"auto-tag_international_1\" data-tag=\"international\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">international<\/a> showcase of daring work from adventurous new voices and inventive artists includes 16 feature films and 24 short films from 28 countries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe Currents centerpiece selection is the U.S. premiere of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/ben-rivers\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ben-rivers_1\" data-tag=\"ben-rivers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ben Rivers<\/a>\u2018 Mare\u2019s Nest, described by Film at Lincoln Center, which presents the NYFF, as \u201can enigmatic road movie set in a post-apocalyptic world ruled by children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tOther highlights in the Currents slate include the New York premieres of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/radu-jude\/\" id=\"auto-tag_radu-jude_1\" data-tag=\"radu-jude\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Radu Jude<\/a>\u2018s Dracula and Kamal Aljafari\u2019s With Hasan in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cIn a film landscape that is so often homogeneous by design, this year\u2019s Currents lineup is energizing for being a showcase of the boundless possibilities of cinematic language,\u201d NYFF artistic director Dennis Lim said in a statement. \u201cResurrecting old technologies and subverting new ones, the filmmakers and artists here use an ingenious array of styles and forms to investigate the past and illuminate the present, in the process reminding us of all that cinema can do.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe Currents lineup will feature the world premiere of Sharon Lockhart\u2019s Windward as well as the North American premieres of feature films Tsai Ming-liang\u2019s Back Home\/Hui Jia; Lucio Castro\u2019s Drunken Noodles; Masao Adachi\u2019s Escape\/Toso; Tr\u01b0\u01a1ng Minh Qu\u00fd and Nicolas Graux\u2019s Hair, Paper, Water\u2026; Gabriel Azor\u00edn\u2019s Last Night I Conquered the CIty of Thebes; James Benning\u2019s Little Boy; and Alejo Moguillansky\u2019s Pin de Fartie.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe following feature films will get their U.S. premieres in the Currents section: Orian Barki and Meriem Bennani\u2019s Bouchra, Alexandre Koberidze\u2019s Dry Leaf and Rhayne Vermette\u2019s Levers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAnd Stillz\u2019s Barrio Triste and Lee Anne Schmitt\u2019s Evidence will receive their New York premieres.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe NYFF previously announced its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/2025-ny-film-festival-main-slate-1236337412\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">main slate<\/a>, including its opening night film, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/2025-ny-film-festival-opening-night-after-the-hunt-1236326534\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Luca Guadagnino\u2019s Julia Roberts starrer After the Hunt<\/a>, which also features Ayo Edebiri and Andrew Garfield; centerpiece film <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/nyff-jim-jarmusch-father-mother-sister-brother-centerpiece-1236327702\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jim Jarmusch\u2019s Father Mother Sister Brother<\/a>;
