\n\tA week after fires ravaged Los Angeles from Altadena to Malibu, YouTube<\/a> CEO Neal Mohan<\/a> announced<\/a> that the company would be committing $15 million to organizations providing immediate relief in Los Angeles in partnership with Google and Google.org. <\/p>\n

\n\tNow, just over seven months later, YouTube confirmed that $3 million of that sum will be used to create a fund that directly supports creative professionals in the city. News of the fund came Thursday via a blog post from YouTube\u2019s vp of sales, Adam Stewart, who also confirmed that he too lost a home in the wildfires.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI know firsthand the challenges our community is facing,\u201d Stewart writes in the post. \u201cMany in our YouTube family have been directly impacted, losing not just their homes, but their studios, equipment, and the dedicated spaces where they bring their ideas to life. That\u2019s why we feel a deep responsibility to continue our support.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn doing so, YouTube partnered with the Entertainment Community Fund<\/a> to distribute funds to eligible creative professionals who lost their homes and\/or were impacted by the devastation.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThese funds will extend to members within our own community: the YouTube creators who have lost their homes or whose homes have been damaged by the fires. And we\u2019re also extending this support to the broader creative industry. Specifically, this fund is also for performing arts and entertainment professionals in L.A. who have experienced the loss of their home or damage to their property, regardless of whether they create on YouTube,\u201d per Stewart, who cites editors, writers, costume teams and \u201ccountless other professionals who make up the backbone of the creative industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStewart ends his post by writing, \u201cWe\u2019re in this together.\u201d In January, YouTube had also committed to opening its production facilities<\/a> to help creators through the tough times.<\/p>\n
