Starting today, Amazon is slashing the price of the coveted The Hobbit Deluxe Illustrated Edition<\/a> to the lowest price I’ve seen this year. This hardcover book set normally retails for $195, but right now you can get it for $85.18, a savings of 56%. This beats the previous price low of $97.50 back in January.<\/p>\n

This premium edition of The Hobbit follows similar editions of Tolkien\u2019s other books featuring the author\u2019s hand-drawn maps and artwork. Unique to this edition are two poster-size, fold-out maps revealing a detailed Thror\u2019s Map and Wilderland, an illustrated 88-page booklet, and a printed art card reproducing Tolkien\u2019s original dustjacket painting. It’s also quarterbound in green leather, with raised ribs on the spine, stamped in three foils on black cloth boards, and housed in a custom-built clothbound slipcase. The pages are edged in gold and include a ribbon marker.<\/p>\n

The Hobbit was released back in September of 2023 and is the latest in line to get the illustrated treatment. There\u2019s The Lord of the Rings Illustrated Edition<\/a>, which came out in 2021, and The Silmarillion Illustrated Edition<\/a>, which arrived in 2022. It also features a forward by Christopher Tolkien, with additional notes from Wayne G. Hammond and Christina Scull.<\/p>\n
