{"id":127230,"date":"2025-08-07T20:26:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-07T20:26:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/127230\/"},"modified":"2025-08-07T20:26:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-07T20:26:13","slug":"1st-bureau-moves-to-new-spot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/127230\/","title":{"rendered":"1st bureau moves to new spot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHOENIX \u2014 The Phoenix Police Department has begun relocating its bureaus to a newly renovated headquarters at 100 West Washington Street.<\/p>\n<p>According to a Wednesday announcement from the city, the department\u2019s communications bureau, which is responsible for answering 911 calls and dispatch operations, is the first fully operational group to make the move.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese dedicated members of our department are the calm voices in our moments of crisis,\u201d Acting Chief Dennis Orender <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phoenix.gov\/newsroom\/police-department-news\/phoenix-police-unveils-new-state-of-the-art-communications-cente.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said in the announcement<\/a>. \u201cWhen the community calls, they\u2019re answering.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The communications bureau now occupies a three-floor facility with approximately 14,000 square feet per floor and is equipped with upgraded systems that support a modern, high-tech working environment. It\u2019s within the department\u2019s new 27-story headquarters at <a href=\"https:\/\/share.google\/qDhh7G3MQkILWflQH\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">100 West Washington Street<\/a> in downtown Phoenix.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a moment of immense pride for our department,\u201d Orender said. \u201cThis workspace reflects our operators\u2019 and dispatchers\u2019 professionalism and their dedication.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Why is Phoenix police communications bureau moving to new location?<\/p>\n<p>The newly renovated, 500,000-square-foot headquarters at 100 West Washington Street in downtown Phoenix has been a long time coming.<\/p>\n<p>The city bought the building, which was formerly known as Wells Fargo Plaza, for $46.5 million in 2021. <a href=\"https:\/\/ktar.com\/arizona-news\/phoenix-renovating-27-story-downtown-tower-to-house-new-police-headquarters\/5547333\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Renovations started in 2023<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Officials decided to shift away from the old Phoenix Police base on Washington Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues due to its aging infrastructure and small size.<\/p>\n<p>The old headquarters, which sit a few blocks west of the new facility, opened in 1975, when Phoenix\u2019s population was less than half of what it is now.<\/p>\n<p>Communications Bureau Administrator Allie Edwards called the move to Phoenix police headquarters a key milestone in the department\u2019s years-long effort to transform a former bank tower into its central hub.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur new center is equipped with updated emergency communications software, ensuring that we can handle emergencies with greater efficiency and reliability,\u201d Edwards said. \u201cThis technology is a cornerstone of our operations, enabling us to respond swiftly and effectively to the 2.2 million calls we receive each year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We want to hear from you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px;\">Have a story idea or tip?
