Applied Materials President and CEO Gary Dickerson said his company has invested over $400 million in strengthening the semiconductor supply chain in the U.S.<\/p>\n
\u201cStrengthening America\u2019s semiconductor leadership has never been more important than in today\u2019s AI era,\u201d Dickerson said in the announcement<\/a>. \u201cWe are honored to work alongside industry leaders to strengthen the U.S. chip supply chain.\u201d<\/p>\n The company is also committing to supporting the partnership between Apple and Texas Instruments by giving chipmaking equipment to TI\u2019s domestic factories.<\/p>\n These two actions reflect the way Applied Materials is a key part of Arizona\u2019s technological network, according to Arizona Commerce Authority CEO Sandra Watson.<\/p>\n \u201cApplied Materials\u2019 new advanced manufacturing facility will further bolster Arizona\u2019s robust semiconductor ecosystem and strengthen U.S. supply chain resiliency,\u201d Watson said.<\/p>\n The chipmaking factory in Chandler could support 200 new jobs in the next five years, according to the announcement.<\/p>\n \u201cAcross important areas such as equipment, (research and development) and workforce training, Applied has been a tremendous industry partner,\u201d Watson said. \u201cWe\u2019re grateful for their continued leadership and commitment to Arizona.\u201d<\/p>\n We want to hear from you.<\/p>\n Have a story idea or tip?
