\n\tWhat will Stephen Colbert<\/a> do once he ends his run hosting CBS\u2019 Late Show in May 2026? He has plenty of options.<\/p>\n

\n\tBut Josh Brolin<\/a> also offered him a job during his Wednesday night Late Show appearance.<\/p>\n

\n\tColbert, Brolin suggested, should be his personal assistant.<\/p>\n

\n\tColbert indicated that it wouldn\u2019t be too difficult, suggesting Brolin wasn\u2019t particularly high-maintenance.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYou know what, Josh Brolin, I bet that\u2019s a real easy job,\u201d Colbert said. \u201cNo calls in the middle of the night complaining about why the steam room isn\u2019t working from Josh Brolin.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAnd Colbert was on board: \u201cI\u2019m in, man.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn another segment of the interview, when Brolin was reminiscing about a recent motorcycle trip with his friends, Colbert asked how he could get invited, and Brolin suggested he could start by messing up his hair to fit in with his biker buddies.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAfter May,\u201d Colbert said, adding that once The Late Show<\/a> came to an end, \u201cI\u2019m going to get so cut. I\u2019m going to do the fat shot drug. And I\u2019m going to get super cut. I\u2019m going to do nothing but protein \u2026 eat 16 chickens a day.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tElsewhere in the interview, Brolin and Colbert shared their mutual love for each other and even recited poetry before Brolin gave Colbert a doll with Brolin\u2019s face on it that read \u201cI [heart] you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier in the week, Brolin sent Colbert a video message<\/a> via his Weapons co-star Julia Garner, who shared it with the host when she was on the late night show.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cStephen, it\u2019s Josh. Be nice to our girl,\u201d Brolin began in the clip. \u201cShe\u2019s a really sweet girl, and she\u2019s really, really good in this movie. I hope you saw the movie.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBrolin added, \u201cAlso I want to say, how\u2019s your boat? Now that you\u00a0don\u2019t have a job, you\u2019ll be able to spend more time on the boat.\u201d Brolin also suggested that Colbert finally watch The Goonies, which the host has said he has never seen, when his show ends.<\/p>\n

\n\tAnd Brolin teased in the video message, \u201cI have an offer for you when I see you.\u201d The \u201coffer\u201d turned out to be the assistant gig.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt was announced last month that CBS had canceled The Late Show, with the long-running franchise set to come to an end in May. CBS called the move \u201cpurely a financial decision\u201d amid a challenging linear TV environment.<\/p>\n

\n\tBut there\u2019s been widespread speculation about possible other reasons for the cancellation, as Colbert has been a prominent critic of President Donald Trump and CBS parent company Paramount Global recently completed a merger with Skydance that had been awaiting FCC approval. Paramount also recently settled a lawsuit filed by Trump over a 60 Minutes interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris, which Colbert criticized on his show.
