Alex Ovechkin<\/strong> played in the now annual \u201cMatch of the Year\u201d last month, a charity game that pits Russian stars from the NHL against their countrymen in the KHL. Ovechkin scored a goal in this year\u2019s game<\/a>, helping the NHL team to a dominant 15-3 victory.<\/p>\n

The goal wasn\u2019t the only thing Ovechkin contributed to the day, though, as he was also mic\u2019d up for the festivities. Thanks to X user @Uggg_uggg<\/a>, we have the translated subtitles from the original Russian video, and the Washington Capitals captain was in rare form.<\/p>\n

Ovechkin starts the video trying to get props from Carolina Hurricanes winger Andrei Svechnikov for a pass that Svechnikov eventually scored on.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat a sick pass!\u201d Ovechkin said. \u201cDid you see that pass?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, dope,\u201d Svechnikov responded.<\/p>\n

Despite what he perceived to be an obvious bit of passing excellence, Ovechkin was not originally credited with an assist on the goal. He vented his frustration to the on-ice officials and joked that he and Panarin had money on the line if they didn\u2019t get credit for helpers.<\/p>\n

\u201cHey, give me the assist,\u201d Ovechkin said. \u201cI got a bonus! Credit me with the assist!\u00a0Me and Panarin \u2013 give us the assists! We\u2019ve got a bonus!<\/p>\n

\u201cNo problem, I\u2019ll do it,\u201d the referee replied.<\/p>\n

Later in the game, a fellow number one overall draft pick, Nail Yakupov, got a little physical with Ovechkin in the friendly match. After Ovechkin tried to let loose on a one timer, Yakupov got in the way of the shot and caught Ovechkin up high with some body contact.<\/p>\n

After getting back to the bench, Ovechkin made sure to tell Evgeni Malkin that he had marked Yakupov\u2019s jersey number down for a future encounter. The two would meet again at a faceoff soon after.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, I f\u2014ing remember. I remember you,\u201d Ovechkin said. \u201cYou\u2019re on my list now!\u201d<\/p>\n

Ovechkin played on the NHL team\u2019s first line with Panarin and Svechnikov throughout the contest. The trio combined for several goals, but it was Panarin\u2019s bullet pass into Ovechkin\u2019s skates that created the most discussion on the team\u2019s bench.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat was that, bro? That hurt like hell,\u201d Ovechkin said, laughing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought you\u2019d let it pass,\u201d Panarin replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet it pass where? That thing\u2019s flying at fighter jet speed,\u201d Ovechkin joked.<\/p>\n

Ovechkin will be back on the ice August 9 for the \u201cgala match\u201d at the Ovi Cup<\/a>. The Ovi Cup is an annual youth hockey tournament and features 24 youth teams from Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan this year.<\/p>\n
