Flaco Jiminez\u2019s final curtain call took place at the Carver Community Center.<\/p>\n<p>Jimenez had a career that spanned over 70 years. The grammy award winning artist who helped birth Tejano music was born here in San Antonio, but people traveled from all over to celebrate his life. Diego Ramirez Jr. Drove 5 hours from Monahans, Tx to say his final goodbye.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was so blessed to hang out with him a couple of times.\u201d Ramirez Jr said.<\/p>\n<p>Two people who would never miss Jiminez\u2019s final curtain call were the Tejano music icon\u2019s right hand bajo sexto player Max Baca and his best friend Josh Baca.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFlaco had a way of making everybody feel special when he\u2019d sit down and talk to you one no one,\u201d Max Baca said. \u201cWhen he\u2019d leave, you\u2019d feel special because that\u2019s the way he made you feel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis spirit,\u201d Josh Baca said. \u201cHis magic. It\u2019s his magic that I\u2019m going to miss. It\u2019s never going to be another Flaco. There will never be another Flaco.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Flaco Jiminez lived to be 86 years old.
