We\u2019ll all find out when Soapy \u2014\u00a0a new series hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart \u2014 debuts next month.<\/p>\n
You\u2019d be hard-pressed to find hosts who\u2019ve got better connections that Budig and Rikaart. She\u2019s currently playing Bold & Beautiful\u2019s Taylor, but has also appeared on\u00a0All My Children, General Hospital and Guiding Light. He, meanwhile, is currently doing double-duty on Young & Restless\u00a0(as Kevin) and\u00a0Days of Our Lives\u00a0(as Leo).<\/p>\n
Need proof of just how connected these two are? Their first guests include iconic performers like Deidre Hall (Marlena,\u00a0Days of Our Lives) and Eric Braeden (Victor,\u00a0Young & Restless). Proving the show is for true soap fans, they\u2019ll also talk to folks who work behind the scenes to bring the shows to life, including Sheila Ducksworth, the executive producer who helped take\u00a0Beyond the Gates\u00a0from idea to reality.<\/p>\n

As longtime friends (and one-time neighbors!), they banter like\u2026 well, like only longtime friends can! \u201cWe decided that since we know each other so well,\u201d says Budig in the preview \u2014 which you can check out in its entirety below \u2014 \u201cthat we decided that we should interview all the people that we know, and people that we don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n The goal, added Rikaart, is to \u201ccelebrate our genre, coming from a place of love and reverence and respect for the incredibly challenging and hard and fun work that we get to do.\u201d<\/p>\n Look for the new series to launch on Tuesday, July 8 with new episodes dropping weekly through mid-September. Upcoming guests include Maurice Benard (Sonny, General Hospital), Heather Tom (Katie,\u00a0Bold & Beautiful),\u00a0Karla Mosley (Dani,\u00a0Beyond the Gates) and\u00a0Desperate Housewives\u00a0creator Marc Cherry.
