\n\tGreg Gutfeld<\/a> made his broadcast late-night debut on \u201cThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon<\/a>\u201d Thursday evening, marking a rare network crossover with the Fox News host visiting NBC\u2019s 30 Rock.<\/p>\n

\n\tA conservative media personality is a rare booking for \u201cThe Tonight Show\u201d and the 10-minute segment between Gutfeld and Fallon largely steered clear of politics. After being introduced to the stage, Gutfeld met Fallon with a big hug, lifting his own feet off the ground mid-embrace before taking a seat. Gutfeld then nosedived into a story about meeting Fallon roughly 15 years ago at a Hell\u2019s Kitchen bar, in which both parties were \u201cwasted.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the segment, Gutfeld also gave an account of various \u201cfirings\u201d that led him to working at Fox News. He shared that his hired his mother as a \u201csenior correspondent\u201d for his first Fox News show, \u201cRed Eye.\u201d His mother\u2019s duties amounted to watching Fox News and catching Gutfeld up on the stories of the day.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter Fallon congratulated Gutfeld on \u201ceverything you\u2019ve done,\u201d the conversation concluded with a plug for the new Fox Nation game show \u201cWhat Did I Miss?,\u201d in which contestants are sequestered for 100 days and then asked if recent news headlines are real or fake. After a jokey tangent about how \u201cwe didn\u2019t pay them anything,\u201d Gutfeld did bring up the topic of Trump and how \u201cyou never know what he\u2019s going to do,\u201d adding to the appeal of his show\u2019s premise. Fallon added: \u201cYou wouldn\u2019t even have to sequester people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThough \u201cGutfeld!\u201d airs 90 minutes earlier than traditional broadcast late-night programs, like Fallon\u2019s and Jimmy Kimmel\u2019s, the Fox News host has often touted that he draws a larger viewership than such programs. When Stephen Colbert announced on-air that \u201cThe Late Show\u201d would be ending in 2026, Fox News published <\/a>an article about the consistent growth in ratings for \u201cGutfeld!\u201d since its premiere in 2021. The piece also underlined that \u201cGutfeld!\u201d has drawn a bigger audience than Colbert for nearly two years on the smaller reach of a cable network, albeit in an earlier time slot.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThey didn\u2019t just cancel the show. They canceled the whole show,\u201d Gutfeld said about Colbert\u2019s program being canceled in July. \u201cThis was an \u2018institution,\u2019 and rather than put someone in his place they just said, \u2018We\u2019re closing up.\u2019 Imagine being a chef. You\u2019re such a bad chef that they cancel food. \u2026 It\u2019s so obvious. You can\u2019t do a comedy show and a sermon at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Fox News host teased his appearance on \u201cThe Tonight Show\u201d last week, calling the taping \u201cthe biggest crossover since the Harlem Globetrotters visited the Golden Girls.\u201d He also side-eyed other late-night hosts by adding, \u201cUnlike the other guys, Jimmy sitting with me proves he\u2019s not afraid of upsetting his peers or afraid of my mesmerizing charm.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFallon took a few jabs at President Trump in Thursday\u2019s monologue, with jokes like \u201cThe only places Trump didn\u2019t [tariff] are North Korea and Epstein Island.\u201d However, \u201cThe Tonight Show\u201d has largely opted out of political commentary in recent years, even as other late-night hosts like Colbert, Kimmel and Fallon\u2019s NBC peer Seth Meyers have all leaned further into the subject. <\/p>\n
