Walt Disney has settled its lawsuit with martial artist-turned-actress Gina Carano, who sued the company for firing her<\/a> after she compared being conservative in the US to being Jewish in Nazi Germany.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Carano filed the wrongful termination and sex discrimination suit against the entertainment conglomerate in 2024, three years after sharing the controversial social media posts<\/a> while acting in the Disney+ \u201cStar Wars\u201d-linked streaming series \u201cThe Mandalorian.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the Elon Musk-backed suit<\/a>, Carano argued that Disney and Lucasfilm, the company behind the \u201cStar Wars\u201d franchise, canned her for promoting conservative opinions that other male stars had previously shared without consequence.<\/p>\n

Disney removed Gina Carano from \u201cThe Mandalorian\u201d in 2021 over social media posts that the company at the time called \u201cabhorrent and unacceptable.\u201d Carano in 2019, above. Richard Shotwell\/Invision\/AP<\/p>\n

A Lucasfilm spokesperson highlighted that Carano \u201cwas always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect\u201d in a statement released Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

No additional details about the settlement were revealed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It is unclear if Lucasfilm plans to reintroduce Carano\u2019s axed character in \u201cThe Mandalorian\u201d or another \u201cStar Wars\u201d series.<\/p>\n

Carano celebrated the suit\u2019s drawn-out conclusion, saying it was \u201cthe best outcome for all parties involved\u201d while thanking Musk for his charity.<\/p>\n

In 2021, Carano shared a series of inflammatory posts claiming that America\u2019s political climate had shifted to persecute those with unpopular opinions \u2013 like the Nazis attacking Jewish people leading up to and during World War II.<\/p>\n

Carano was swiftly axed from \u201cThe Mandalorian,\u201d one of the \u201cStar Wars\u201d franchise\u2019s first live-action television series on the shiny new Disney+ streaming service.<\/p>\n

She appeared in seven episodes as Cara Dune, a mercenary and ally of Pedro Pascal\u2019s Din Djarin throughout the first and second seasons.\u00a0<\/p>\n
