It’s almost as if Tencent predicted it would face a lawsuit over its Horizon<\/a> knock-off Light of Motiram<\/a>. Just a week after it was made public Sony plans to sue Tencent<\/a> over the similarities between the two games, the Light of Motiram<\/a> Steam page has been overhauled<\/a> with entirely new artwork and game descriptions.<\/p>\n

Spotted by The Game Post<\/a>, its key art, selection of screenshots, and descriptions of mechanics have all been updated within the last 24 hours. It also now has a planned release window of Q4 2027, but Sony will be working to prevent that.<\/p>\n

Previously, the key art for the Steam page featured a girl wearing very similar headgear to Aloy. Now, as of today, it has a robotic owl and what could be a dog. From The Game Post, here’s the before and after comparison:<\/p>\n

In addition, the screenshot reel at the top of the page has been updated with new images. Some of the new shots would certainly still draw comparisons to the Horizon series, but it’s slightly less obvious with these new pictures:<\/p>\n

Finally, it’s been noticed how the game description has been updated to feature less of the features and mechanics that are a direct copy of the Horizon universe.<\/p>\n

Sony filed its lawsuit<\/a> on 25th July, claiming “Tencent\u2019s copying of Horizon is so blatant that the public has described it as ‘crazy’, ‘insane’, and ‘shameless'”. Sony cited copyright and trademark infringement, with its overall goal to prevent Light of Motiram from ever releasing.<\/p>\n

Sony argues that Tencent is trying to trick customers into thinking Light of Motiram is the next entry in the Horizon series, which would cause “irreparable injury”. It now wants $150,000 in damages and access to all the game’s materials so they can be destroyed.<\/p>\n

It was stated by GameSpot that Tencent approached Sony about using the Horizon IP, but was denied. Its pitch, if accepted, would have taken protagonist Aloy to Asia<\/a> for a mobile title, featuring an open world filled with animals inspired by Asian lore.<\/p>\n
