SAN ANTONIO – New details have surfaced in the April shooting death of a San Antonio man near a Southwest Side shopping center.<\/p>\n

Andre Montera, 24, was found on Apr. 23 off Nogalitos Street near Gladstone Street with gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he would succumb to his injuries. <\/p>\n

According to the arrest report, a witness told police that Montera was picking up a woman to take her to work when the suspect, Ronnie Jay Salas, 22, walked up the Montera and a struggle ensued. At some point, Salas shot Montera and took off. <\/p>\n

The witness positively identified Salas in a single-photo lineup conducted by the San Antonio Police Department.<\/p>\n

Salas was eventually tracked down on May 15 by U.S. Marshals to Hoisington, Kansas, approximately 120 miles from Wichita, following a tip that he was staying in the area.
