He was eventually caught sending inappropriate photos to a 15-year-old girl in North Carolina and sentenced to almost two years in prison.

The race to succeed the term-limited councilmember in the district, Carlina Rivera, drew a competitive primary field that in addition to Epstein included Sarah Batchu, a de Blasio alum, and Andrea Gordillo, a local nonprofit leader and community board chair. Epstein had the backing of a lost list of elected officials, including Reps. Jerry Nadler and Dan Goldman.

Epstein may have also benefited from a higher profile after he was the subject of a Saturday Night Live sketch in November that spoofed his name for its similarities to two disgraced men: Harvey Weinstein and Jeffrey Epstein. He is not related to either individual and importantly, has not been embroiled in any similar scandals.

Originally Published: June 24, 2025 at 10:33 PM EDT

Anthony Weiner’s political comeback seemed unlikely Tuesday night as the disgraced ex-congressman was running a distant fourth late…

[5122
5229,8988,1370,405,403,8989,50,5226,5225,5228,5227,80,67,586,132,5230,68,2969
0":"post-12951","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-new-york","8":"tag-america","9":"tag-election","10":"tag-latest-headlines","11":"tag-new-york","12":"tag-new-york-city","13":"tag-new-york-politics","14":"tag-news","15":"tag-newyork","16":"tag-newyorkcity","17":"tag-ny","18":"tag-nyc","19":"tag-politics","20":"tag-united-states","21":"tag-united-states-of-america","22":"tag-unitedstates","23":"tag-unitedstatesofamerica","24":"tag-us","25":"tag-usa
["GET
