different events across three different continents.

It is, of course, possible that Alcaraz will skip one of these events, although he certainly has a history of playing lots of tennis during the latter stages of the season.

Novak Djokovic has only committed to playing two events between now and the end of the year: the US Open and the Six Kings Slam.

Last year, Alcaraz’s results tapered off during the last few months of the year, as fans began to question whether he had burned himself out.

Carlos Alcaraz’s shaky results at the end of 2024

<ul Alcaraz was far from his best at the end of 2024, which makes his decision to play a similarly busy schedule this year all the more puzzling.

However, Alcaraz certainly shouldn’t be criticized for committing to play for Spain at the Davis Cup, as his captain, David Ferrer, now expresses his ‘excitement’ ahead of the world number two’s return.

David Ferrer is ‘very happy’ to see Carlos Alcaraz commit to play Davis Cup

As reported by Spanish media outlet Marca, Ferrer is looking forward to the team’s tie with Denmark next month.

“I’m very happy with the commitment the players have shown and the team’s enthusiasm for advancing to the tie against Denmark,” he said.

“It’s hard to say where the key to the tie might lie because every point is important. I think the first day will make a bit of a difference, depending on how we get out of it, whether we’re 2-0 or 1-1, and how we can handle it to see who can play the doubles.

Photo by Angel Martinez/Getty Images for ITF

“Both Carlos [Alcaraz] and Alejandro [Davidovich Fokina] are key players to winning these two matches.”

Heaping further praise onto his two biggest stars, Ferrer gave his verdict on Davidovich Fokina and Alcaraz’s recent form.

“Alejandro Davidovich is being very consistent; he’s in the top 20 of the race, and Carlos Alcaraz is coming off a win at Roland Garros and a final at Wimbledon,” he said.

“I’m very excited they can be with us.”

Alcaraz has yet to win the Davis Cup title in his career, as Spain last won the trophy in 2019, when Rafael Nadal and co. defeated Canada in the final.

Only time will tell if Alcaraz can add the Davis Cup title to his trophy cabinet in 2025, but you certainly won’t want to miss any of the action.

Alcaraz and Spain will play Denmark in their Davis Cup qualifying tie on September 13/14 in Marbella, Spain.

Carlos Alcaraz is about to make his return to tennis on North American hard courts.
