means Ruben Amorim can still sign two more players this summer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Manchester United can reportedly still make two more signings this summer transfer window despite claims that they may struggle to afford expensive additions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsmole.co.uk\/football\/man-utd\/\" title=\"More Manchester United\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong class=\"autotag\">Manchester United<\/strong><\/a> can still afford to sign a defensive midfielder and goalkeeper this summer due to cost-cutting measures, a new report has claimed.<\/p>\n<p>The Red Devils were said to be struggling financially as a result of the club&#8217;s failure to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsmole.co.uk\/football\/premier-league\/2024-25\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">qualify for Europe in 2024-25<\/a>, but boss <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsmole.co.uk\/people\/ruben-amorim\/\" title=\"More Ruben Amorim\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong class=\"autotag\">Ruben Amorim<\/strong><\/a> has still been backed heavily this window.<\/p>\n<p>Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has implemented a number of unpopular and controversial cost-cutting measures, including hundreds of redundancies for staff.<\/p>\n<p>There have also been reductions in the wage bill, with salary expenditure expected to be \u00a380m lower over the next 12 months than it was for the 2023-24 season when United were in the Champions League.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/football\/2025\/08\/08\/manchester-united-spending-big-on-transfers-more-to-come\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Telegraph<\/a> claim that United recorded\u00a0an operating profit of just under \u00a31m for the three months to March 31, compared to a \u00a366.2m operating loss for the same period one year earlier, and such savings mean the club can afford to sign a defensive midfielder and a goalkeeper.<\/p>\n<p class=\"imgI\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Manchester United's Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks on during the award ceremony following the UEFA Europa League final\" class=\"vanilla-lazyload article-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/https:\/\/sportsmole-media-prod.s3.gra.io.cloud.ovh.net\/uploads\/2025\/08\/jim-ratcliffe-688c94b75639c180.webp\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Should United target <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsmole.co.uk\/people\/carlos-baleba\/\" title=\"More Carlos Baleba\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong class=\"autotag\">Carlos Baleba<\/strong><\/a> this summer?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsmole.co.uk\/football\/man-utd\/transfer-talk\/news\/baleba-to-man-united-how-realistic-is-a-transfer-how-much-would-the-21-year-old-cost_578731.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Manchester United are said to have made an approach<\/a> to Brighton &amp;
