Mayor investigates ‘leaked video’ of councilwoman’s booking — unaware it’s public record<\/a><\/p>\nIn the video, Gonzalez, 43, appears cooperative but denies drinking alcohol, telling officers she was coming from the Centre Club downtown. <\/p>\n
The footage captures Gonzalez performing a series of field sobriety tests. After the tests, Gonzalez was placed under arrest.<\/p>\n
She was released from jail the next afternoon and issued a public statement acknowledging the incident:<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a public servant, I know we\u2019re held to a higher standard, and my actions failed to meet that. I deeply regret the disappointment this has caused my constituents, my colleagues, and my family. As this matter moves forward, I\u2019ll take full responsibility, and I will not stop working to make sure my constituents are well represented.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gonzalez, who previously served as chief of staff to Mayor Ron Nirenberg, was elected to the City Council in 2025.<\/p>\n
