{"id":131392,"date":"2025-08-09T09:36:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-09T09:36:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/131392\/"},"modified":"2025-08-09T09:36:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-09T09:36:11","slug":"toronto-weather-heat-warning-in-effect-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/131392\/","title":{"rendered":"Toronto weather: heat warning in effect"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Environment Canada is warning of a \u201cmulti-day heat event\u201d in Toronto and the rest of southern Ontario that will begin this weekend with humidex values of up to 40.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">As a result, a heat warning has been issued.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1754732171_127_PY2XSCZNW5ALHC2QWITPEW42VE.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/>Heat warning A heat warning is in effect across southern Ontario. (Environment Canada) <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">During the heat event, Environment Canada said the region will see daytime highs of 30 to 33 C and with humidity, it will feel like between 35 and 40.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">At night, there is little heat relief, as the temperature will only dip to lows of 19 to 23 C.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Environment Canada said the heat will break by the middle of next week with the arrival of slightly cooler temperatures.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to the national weather agency\u2019s latest forecast, Toronto will see highs of 32 C, 33 C, 33 C, and 31 C on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, respectively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cHeat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion,\u201d Environment Canada said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Signs of heat exhaustion include headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine and intense fatigue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cTake action to protect yourself and others \u2013 extreme heat can affect everyone\u2019s health.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>City of Toronto\u2019s response<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The city says all of its camps will run as planned but activities may be modified and trips may be postponed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Metro Hall lobby area is going to be a 24\/7 cool space while the heat warning is in effect, the city says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">In addition, the following air-conditioned civic buildings are open to the public on extended hours:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>North York Civic Centre\u2014 7:30 a.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. weekends until 9:30 p.m. <\/li>\n<li>Scarborough Civic Centre\u20148 a.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. weekends until 9:30 p.m. <\/li>\n<li>Etobicoke Civic Centre\u2014 8 a.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. weekends until 9:30 p.m. <\/li>\n<li>York Civic Centre\u2014 8 a.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. weekends until 9:30 p.m. <\/li>\n<li>East York Civic Centre \u2013 8 a.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. weekends until 9:30 p.m. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The city\u2019s 58 public outdoor pools are open daily and during the heat event, the following are open until 11:45 p.m.:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alex Duff Memorial Pool at Christie Pits Park, 779 Crawford St. <\/li>\n<li>Fairbank Memorial Swimming Pool, 2213 Dufferin St. <\/li>\n<li>McGregor Park Community Centre, 2231 Lawrence Ave. E. <\/li>\n<li>Monarch Park, 115 Felstead Ave. <\/li>\n<li>North Toronto Memorial Community Centre, 200 Eglinton Ave. W. <\/li>\n<li>Smithfield Park, 175 Mount Olive Dr. <\/li>\n<li>Sunnyside Gus Ryder Outdoor Pool, 1755 Lake Shore Blvd. W. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Environment Canada is warning of a \u201cmulti-day heat event\u201d in Toronto and the rest of southern Ontario that&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":131393,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[4717,2147,50],"class_list":{"0":"post-131392","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-news","8":"tag-apple-news","9":"tag-canada","10":"tag-news"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@us\/114998135148354932","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/131392","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=131392"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/131392\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/131393"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=131392"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=131392"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=131392"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
