With the union\u2019s next round of elections looming later this year, there was an open question about whether Drescher\u2014who\u2019s served two two-year terms in the job, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avclub.com\/striking-actors-re-elect-fran-drescher-as-sag-aftra-pre-1850822137\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">winning re-election amidst the strikes<\/a>\u2014would seek to continue on in the role. But the revealed SAG-AFTRA candidate lists, put out early on Friday, have made it clear: Drescher won\u2019t be seeking election for a third time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/business\/business-news\/fran-drescher-not-running-sag-aftra-president-1236312550\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Per\u00a0THR<\/a>, the presidency is instead being sought by Sean Astin and Chuck Slavin, the latter a SAG-AFTRA New England Local board member. Slavin is running alongside Peter Antico as potential Secretary-Treasurer, while Astin is running alongside\u00a0Star Trek: Picard\u00a0performer Michelle Hurd.
