Nearly two months ago residents complained of raw sewage pouring into their apartments. Now a Vanessa Rae Martin says she had to take cover in her own home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor almost a full month we had to use an umbrella to use the toilet,\u201d Martin said. \u201cWe had to turn around and constantly empty water buckets left and right. We woke up to go use the bathroom and the floor was completely soaked.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martin says the leak started on July 4th. She also says on July 15th the apartment claimed they fixed the leak.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt still continued to leak, Martin said. \u201cI was filling a 13-gallon trash bucket. Starting off I was emptying it three times a day. I was still filling it once a day. Then I had other spots that were leaking.<\/p>\n<p>Martin says the leak eventually stopped, but not before she had to put up a fight with property management.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe office telling us we have no money, so we can\u2019t fix anything,\u201d Martin said. \u201cOr we ordered a part and a month later the part is still not here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martin says due to the property managers neglect many Ascent residents moved out, leaving most of the apartments vacant. She says that\u2019s now causing an issue with squatters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI actually had to call the cops because as I was walking by, we heard them go in the apartment, Martin said. \u201cThis apartment has been vacant since April.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are multiple vacant apartments with no locks at the Ascent Apartments. We went to the leasing office and asked about the apartment management about the maintenance concerns and squatters and the chose not to comment.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"San Antonio, TX \u2014 Persistent problems with plumbing continue at the Ascent Apartments on the northwest side.
