Andrew Cuomo wrote in a scathing social media post.<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo unleashed his tirade on X Friday alongside a video of the left nominee and frontrunner for City Hall openly admitting he pays $2,300\u00a0for a\u00a0rent-stabilized\u00a0one-bedroom unit\u00a0in the high-demand neighborhood of Astoria, Queens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomewhere last night in New York City, a single mother and her children slept at a homeless shelter because you, assemblyman Zohran Mamdani are occupying her rent controlled apartment,\u201d Cuomo <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/andrewcuomo\/status\/1953897868822991058\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote in the viral tweet<\/a> that has racked up more than 19 million views.<\/p>\n<p>Zohran Mamdani pays $2,300 per month for his Astoria apartment.  Brigitte Stelzer<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou grew up rich and married an even wealthier woman. You\u2019ve had weddings on 3 continents. You own property in LGTBQIA+ murderous Uganda,\u201d he continued, pointing to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seethroughny.net\/payrolls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">politician\u2019s $142,000 base salary<\/a> and the additional income his illustrator wife, Rama Duwaji, brings home.<\/p>\n<p>The couple married earlier this year at the City Clerk\u2019s office before jetting off for a small, but lavish <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/05\/12\/us-news\/socialist-nyc-mayoral-contender-zohran-mamdani-secretly-tied-the-knot-in-exotic-dubai-ceremony-photos-show\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dubai engagement and wedding celebration<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>They capped off their nuptials with a blockbuster,\u00a0three-day affair at his family\u2019s ritzy, secluded Ugandan compound, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/26\/us-news\/zohran-mamdanis-presidential-style-uganda-wedding-bash\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">complete with masked security guards and a cellphone jamming system \u2013<\/a>\u2013 which Cuomo was quick to point out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo matter which way you cut it: Zohran Mamdani is a rich person. You are actually very rich. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cYet you and your wife pay $2,300 a month, as you have bragged, for a nice apartment in Astoria. That should be housing for someone who needs it. We are in the middle of a historic affordability crisis. Millions of low income New Yorkers need this apartment and an apartment like it. Yet your apartment remains rented to rich people who don\u2019t need it,\u201d Cuomo said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, I am calling on you to move out immediately and give your affordable housing back to an unhoused family who need it. Leaders must show moral clarity. Time to move out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani had previously claimed he had plans to move out of his cheap digs. He <a href=\"https:\/\/nyeditorialboard.substack.com\/p\/zohran-mamdani-interview-transcript\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told the New York Editorial Board<\/a> in February he found the listing on StreetEasy back when he was making $47,000 per year as a foreclosure prevention housing counselor.<\/p>\n<p>Despite hailing from renowned, wealthy parents who sent him to the elite\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2016\/07\/17\/elite-schools-exceptionally-racist-diversity-head-will-not-return\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$66,000-a-year Bank Street School<\/a>, Mamdani has recently claimed to have less than $2,000 in the bank.<\/p>\n<p>His parents have plenty of cash of their own, however. <\/p>\n<p>His Academy Award- and Golden Globe-nominated filmmaker mother, Mira Nair, recently sold a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/03\/real-estate\/as-mamdani-targets-nycs-wealthy-in-tax-plan-spotlight-turns-to-mothers-2m-chelsea-loft\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">posh West Chelsea 2-bedroom\u00a0<\/a>that she had owned for more than 10 years in 2019 for $1.45 million.<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo wrote: \u201cSomewhere last night in New York City, a single mother and her children slept at a homeless shelter because you, assemblyman Zohran Mamdani are occupying her rent controlled apartment.\u201d Matthew McDermott<\/p>\n<p>His father, Mahmood Mamdani, is a chaired Columbia University professor,\u00a0a position\u00a0which on average reaps a salary of $308,000 a year.<\/p>\n<p>The Harvard-educated couple still live in the stylish Ivy League and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/05\/12\/us-news\/zohran-mamdani-benefited-from-taxpayer-subsidized-columbia-u-housing-he-wants-to-scrap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">taxpayer-subsidized<\/a>\u00a03-bed, 3-bath corner apartment on Riverside Drive \u2014 with weekly maid service.<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani also owns four acres of land in Uganda worth between $150,000 and $250,000.<\/p>\n<p>When he moved in, Mamdani\u00a0claimed he\u00a0had\u00a0not realized he had nabbed\u00a0a rent-stabilized unit.<\/p>\n<p>The average price of rent for a one-bedroom in the trendy Queens nabe is closer to $3,000,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.apartmentadvisor.com\/market-reports\/astoria-new-york-ny\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> according to Apartment Advisor<\/a> \u2014 meaning Mamdani saves an average of $8,400 per year more than his constituents. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn that time since, I\u2019ve become an assemblymember and I\u2019m now able to pay for that apartment and able to also move out of that apartment and I plan on doing so. I don\u2019t plan on living in that apartment for perpetuity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani \u2014 who makes a $140,000 salary \u2014 lives in this apartment building with his wife. Brigitte Stelzer<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani\u2019s camp brushed off Cuomo\u2019s tirade, accusing the disgraced governor of trying to distract voters from his own flaws.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAndrew Cuomo isn\u2019t just working with Donald Trump \u2014 he\u2019s becoming him. Ranting to reporters, firing off unhinged social media posts, lodging personal attacks \u2014 all to avoid talking about the corruption, sexual harassment, and abuse of power that drove him from office. The only thing missing is a red hat,\u201d spokesperson Dora Pekec said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The Queens assemblyman hurled his own jabs at Cuomo on Friday, about 90 minutes before Cuomo\u2019s X post.<\/p>\n<p>At the news that the former\u00a0governor\u00a0was attending\u00a0a\u00a0Hamptons\u00a0fundraiser for Pro-Trump billionaire Bill Ackman \u2014 who previously backed Cuomo before ditching him for Mayor Adams \u2014 Mamdani\u00a0posted: \u201cSuburban man retreats to safe space.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo had reportedly been living comfortably in Westchester until he threw his hat in the mayoral race, taking up residence\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/01\/11\/us-news\/cuomo-living-in-manhattans-posh-sutton-place-near-mom-and-sis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at a posh Sutton Place\u00a0apartment\u00a0<\/a>that was last year priced at $8,242 a month.<\/p>\n<p>After Cuomo ripped Mamdani\u2019s rent-stabilized living situation, critics\u00a0flocked to Mamdani\u2019s post, with one pointing out\u00a0the socialist\u00a0celebrated his wedding in a \u201cguarded private fortress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c<\/strong>Guy who grew up supremely comfy says what?\u201d wrote another person on X in response to Mamdani\u2019s post. \u201cHow much was your wedding again? The wedding with guards?
