A 22-year-old man was killed while in a crosswalk by a driver who ran a red light and struck him before fleeing the scene, police said. <\/p>\n
Just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday, the man was crossing the street on the 5400 block of South Kedzie in Chicago’s Gage Park neighborhood when he was struck by the driver of a gray vehicle, police said. The driver was traveling northbound when they disregarded a traffic signal and struck the 22-year-old as he was using the crosswalk. <\/p>\n
The driver then fled the scene, police said. <\/p>\n
The 22-year-old was transported to a local hospital, where he later died, police said. <\/p>\n
Surveillance video of the crash obtained by NBC Chicago shows the 22-year-old tried to step away from the vehicle to avoid getting hit before the driver swerved toward him, appearing to intentionally strike him.<\/p>\n
No one is in custody and detectives are investigating the crash. <\/p>\n
