As Thursday\u2019s trade deadline approached, though, the Lynx had a sense Carrington might be on the table. <\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">Talks sped up last week and, by Saturday, a deal felt imminent. <\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">\u201cWhat we really embraced was, we felt like we could use a little more help as we made this run &#8230; that was really our focus,\u201d Reeve said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">Reeve explained that Carrington brings a different look to the Lynx than Williams, Kayla McBride or Bridget Carleton \u2014 especially on defense.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">While Reeve acknowledged adding another post player would have been great, she felt Carrington was \u201ca great option\u201d considering cap space and roster space limitations. Carrington takes pride in guarding multiple positions, which Reeve said will give the Lynx more flexibility and ability to cross-match heading into the postseason.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">\u201cI\u2019m excited to be able to alleviate some of the defensive assignments that [McBride] has been having to guard,\u201d Carrington said. \u201cI know it takes a lot from her on the offensive end, so to be that person that\u2019s blowing up screens, that\u2019s guarding the best perimeter player &#8230; we\u2019ll be more fresh, and we\u2019ll have just a little bit more bounce.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Carrington was acquired by the Wings in a four-team trade in February.
