The pair \u2014 who have since been identified as 26-year-old Marcone da Silva Cardoso and 42-year-old Adriana Machado Ribeiro \u2014 were in Venda Nova do Imigrante in Brazil on Monday, Aug. 4, when they parked near a scenic overlook.<\/p>\n
Apparent movement from an intimate moment in their vehicle caused it to drop hundreds of feet, CNN Brazil<\/a> and the Sun<\/a> reported, citing local authorities.<\/p>\n Cardoso and Ribeiro headed toward the area, where the ground was wet, after leaving a party, official Alberto Roque Peres told CNN Brazil, adding that the car fell down a hang-gliding ramp.<\/p>\n The vehicle was located later that morning by a local caretaker, Military Police told CNN Brazil. The man and woman were found naked.<\/p>\n Getty<\/p>\n An emergency vehicle in Brazil (stock image).<\/p>\n Citing local media, The Sun reported that police believe the vehicle fell around 1 a.m. local time, and the man and woman were thrown roughly 328 feet.<\/p>\n The pair’s bodies were found at the base of a rock, while vehicle parts were scattered in the nearby vegetation, CNN Brazil reported.<\/p>\n \u201cThere were no signs of violence at the scene or on the bodies, and the car\u2019s handbrake was engaged,” Peres said, according to The Sun, which added that investigators suspect the car’s movements prompted it to teeter over the edge and fall.<\/p>\n \u201cResidents reported hearing a loud noise between 1:30 a.m. and 2 a.m., but because it was dark and the vegetation was thick, no one saw anything at the time,” Peres explained.<\/p>\n The case remains under investigation, and authorities, who are awaiting forensic reports, told CNN Brazil that there is no initial evidence to suggest others were involved.<\/p>\n Photos shared by CNN Brazil and the New York Post<\/a> show the vehicle destroyed after it plunged several hundred feet off the cliff.<\/p>\n \u201cI saw the car\u2019s engine very far away and the car fell, [almost 450 feet] from the accident,\u201d witness Tiago Amorim said, per the Post. \u201cIt was a shocking scene, the car was destroyed.\u201d<\/p>\n Ribeiro was a mother of two, while Cardoso was also a parent of a 4-year-old son, according to CNN Brazil<\/a>.<\/p>\n![\"Getty](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/35e051f4ddc1e57dfc10c4adb6868c8c.jpeg\"\/)
