KANSAS CITY, Kan. \u2014 Hirving \u201cChucky\u201d Lozano scored a goal and Anders Dreyer found the back of the net and recorded another assist and San Diego FC continued its road surge by beating Sporting KC 2-0 on Saturday.<\/p>\n
It was the fifth straight road win for San Diego (15-7-4) and its eighth road win in its inaugural season. San Diego is 7-2-1 in its last 10 MLS contests. The club struggled in Leagues Cup competition against teams from Liga MX, going 0-2 and being eliminated from the knockout round before salvaging a Game 3 win last week against Mazatlan FC.<\/p>\n
Kansas City (6-13-6) failed to score again against the Western Conference\u2019s top teams as it was coming off a 3-0 loss to Vancouver on July 26.<\/p>\n
Lozano, the Mexican-born winger, scored in the 23rd minute after taking a short pass from Dreyer \u2014 the league leader in assists \u2014 and put it in with a right-footed shot from distance from the center of the box for a 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n
In the 70th minute, Dreyer punched a left-footed shot from the center of the box to seal it. San Diego became the first team to reach 50 goals scored in the MLS regular season this year.<\/p>\n
Dreyer, a candidate for MLS\u2019 Landon Donovan MVP award, returned to form after receiving a red card in the first match of Leagues Cup play. The red card came with a one-game suspension.<\/p>\n
SDFC returns to Snapdragon Stadium Aug. 17 to take on the San Jose Earthquakes. Coach Mikey Varas said he expects his team to be closer to full strength heading into the San Jose match or the following week\u2019s showdown against the Portland Timbers.<\/p>\n
