The San Antonio Spurs just signed a player for the 2025 NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder, but he might not be what they need.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The San Antonio Spurs<\/a> are looking to make a big splash this season. The last few years have been kind to the Spurs, as they\u2019ve been able to land three generational talents in consecutive years.<\/p>\n

Victor Wembanyama<\/a> has already become an All-Star, while Stephon Castle<\/a> became Rookie of the Year last season. Dylan Harper<\/a> is projected to be a star-level player as well.<\/p>\n

That hasn\u2019t stopped them from adding to their roster. The Spurs signed David Jones-Garcia<\/a> to a two-way contract after his Summer League heroics.<\/p>\n

And in a surprising move, the Spurs re-signed De\u2019Aaron Fox to a $229 million deal<\/a>, ensuring that the former All-Star will stay with them for years to come.<\/p>\n

But in a move that few would\u2019ve expected, the Spurs swooped in and signed one of the players on the Oklahoma City Thunder\u2019s<\/a> championship roster.<\/p>\n

According to NBA insider Ary, the San Antonio Spurs are signing 2025 NBA champion Adam Flagler to a two-way contract.<\/p>\n

Flagler was a two-way player for the Oklahoma City Thunder last season and played a contributing role in their championship journey.<\/p>\n

Flagler is on a two-way contract and could very possibly be relegated to the Spurs\u2019 G-League team next season. But his figures suggest he would cause more problems than fix them for the Spurs.<\/p>\n

Adam Flagler was a terrible shooter with OKC Thunder<\/p>\n

Adam Flagler didn\u2019t get to play much for the OKC Thunder last season, being a two-way player. But when he did get some minutes, a glaring problem became evident.<\/p>\n

For the season, Flagler shot just 26.0% from the field and 19.4% from beyond the arc. Even for a limited two-way player, these are very poor numbers.<\/p>\n

And why this makes the Spurs\u2019 signing all the more confusing is that they sorely need some accurate shooters at the guard spot.<\/p>\n

Neither Harper nor Castle are strong outside shooters. While De\u2019Aaron Fox<\/a> is reliable, even his strongest supporters wouldn\u2019t consider him an expert at making shots from range.<\/p>\n

Perhaps Flagler\u2019s signing was made without considering their first-team needs. And after all, the Spurs could waive Flagler before the start of the new season if he fails to make an impression.<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s hard to understand why the Spurs would use one of their valuable two-way spots on a player who can\u2019t shoot well at the NBA level.<\/p>\n
