Jen Psaki<\/a> was asked by fellow MSNBC<\/a> host Ali Velshi<\/a> if she was concerned about the Trump administration \u201ccoming after\u201d her \u2015 and her reply took an unexpected turn.<\/p>\n

Velshi, who was guest-hosting \u201cAll In\u201d on Friday, was handing off to Psaki and her show \u201cThe Briefing\u201d when he asked a probing question about President Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s aggression against reporters and others he perceives as enemies.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople ask me as a journalist, \u2018Are you, you know, worried about the way things are going with this administration, them coming after you and all that kind of stuff?\u2019\u201d Velshi said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I think whatever my answer is it\u2019s like double for you, right? You\u2019re a journalist and you were in the administration,\u201d he added, referring to her stint as White House press secretary for former President Joe Biden<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI need to find out if you\u2019re scared because if you\u2019re not scared then I\u2019m good,\u201d Velshi finished.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, I try not to be,\u201d Psaki answered. \u201cI only get scared when it relates to my kids and threats I get to my home. We all get \u2019em. But otherwise, look, I think we\u2019re both so fortunate to have this ability to say what we think and share hopefully insights on our best days about what\u2019s happening. And that\u2019s a huge gift, so that\u2019s what I try and think about.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among recent actions against the fourth estate, Trump sued The Wall Street Journal<\/a> and reporters Khadeeja Safdar and Joe Palazzolo for billions of dollars, claiming their allegation about Trump\u2019s suggestive birthday letter to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in 2003 was \u201cmalicious\u201d and would cause \u201coverwhelming financial and reputational harm.\u201d<\/p>\n

CBS News took a hit when Trump squeezed a $16 million settlement<\/a> out of parent company Paramount after complaining about routine edits made by \u201c60 Minutes\u201d in an interview with Kamala Harris<\/a> before the election. He claimed the cuts would improve her chances of victory. Experts said the capitulation would impair freedom of the press, not to mention that it looked like Paramount was caving to the administration because it would need the administration\u2019s approval for its eventual merger with Skydance media.<\/p>\n

Trump has also routinely berated reporters<\/a> who ask questions he doesn\u2019t like<\/a>.<\/p>\n
