And because we should be using different ones for each device and\/or app, the best way to track all of them is to use a password manager.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Some apps and operating systems come with their own password managers. For example, if you\u2019re part of the Apple ecosystem, you can use <a href=\"https:\/\/platform.theverge.com\/wp-admin\/post.php?post=712968&amp;action=edit\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">iCloud Keychain<\/a>; Google users have <a href=\"https:\/\/passwords.google.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Google Password Manager<\/a>, and Microsoft devices store passwords through its <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/deployedge\/microsoft-edge-security-password-manager-security\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Edge browser<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/credential-manager-in-windows-1b5c916a-6a16-889f-8581-fc16e8165ac0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Credential Manager<\/a>. Some apps that offer their own password managers (although at least one, Dropbox, recently announced that it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/716303\/dropbox-passwords-manager-shut-down\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">shutting down that service<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">There are advantages to using an independent password manager. You aren\u2019t limited to a single operating system or browser, and most of these apps offer a variety of other services. Unlike most of the other services listed here, almost all of its features are free. There are vaults for a variety of other data, such as credit cards, identity data, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssh.com\/academy\/ssh-keys\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SSH keys<\/a>. You can also share files and data using end-to-end encryption.
