<\/p>\n Health officials say West Nile virus has been detected in mosquitoes in Northeast Philadelphia<\/p>\n 02:04<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n The Berks County Conservation District<\/a>\u00a0is warning residents after West Nile virus was detected in\u00a0Shillington<\/a>\u00a0and Reading, Pennsylvania.<\/a><\/p>\n Officials with the conservation district say that while the current risk of transmission is still relatively low, if the virus activity continues, an adult mosquito control truck spray may be required in both areas.<\/p>\n In Shillington, a mosquito sample collected in the borough tested positive for West Nile virus<\/a>. While in Reading, a mosquito pool came back positive for the virus.\u00a0<\/p>\n The county’s conservation district shared some safety precautions for residents to keep in mind.\u00a0<\/p>\n Since the virus was discovered in Shillington, the conservation district’s mosquito team is conducting more larval and adult mosquito surveillance to help prevent the disease from spreading.\u00a0<\/p>\n Earlier this summer, West Nile virus was detected\u00a0in Northeast Philadelphia<\/a>\u00a0and Darby, Delaware County,<\/a> in July.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n More from CBS News\n <\/p>\n\n
